CONSTRUCTION OF INTAKE, RAW WATER PUMPING STATION AND RAW WATER PIPELINE INCLUDING
TUNNEL CROSSING OF RIVER
Description of the procurement:
The Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority has received funds from Agence Française de
Développement (“AFD”), Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (“KFW”), European Investment Bank (“EIB”) and the
Government of Bangladesh (“GoB”) toward the cost of the Saidabad Water Treatment Plant Phase III Project
and it intends to apply part of the funds to payments under the contract for Component 1 – Intake, Raw Water
Pumping Station and Raw Water Pipelines.
• design and construction of a 950MLD intake in Meghna River and an associated raw water pumping station at
the location Haria under Sonargaon Upazilla
• manufacture, supply and construction of twin coated and lined carbon steel raw water pipelines of size
DN2200 and length approximately 27kms laid in a single trench and connecting the raw water pumping station
at Haria to the water treatment plants at Saidabad in Dhaka, including design & build scope of bored tunnel
trenchless crossing of Sitalakhya River and pipe jack crossings of carriageways.
Tender will be of pink FIDIC type, with some design within Contractor’s scope of work, notably for retaining
structures and seismic induced liquefaction protection facilities for a 6km long embankment along the cross
country section of the raw water pipeline.
Procurement through 1 stage / 2 envelopes process (with minimum technical pass mark) is envisaged.
